Biography

Cory recently was promoted to the ranks of high school to take over the program at Riverdale High School. He has been teaching in Clayton County for 3 years now and spent the first part of those years at Jonesboro Middle School. While at Jonesboro Middle, Cory was an assistant football coach, boy's swim coach, and worked with the Vertical Team to ensure a good transition for rising 9th graders into Jonesboro's feeder high schools. At Jonesboro Middle School, Cory was to establish a growing Engineering and Technology Education program that students are gaining a lot of interest in and in turn enrolling in high school CTAE courses, including starting a chapter of the Technology Student Association. Now that he has taken over an amazing program, he looks forward to much success from his Alma Mater in the coming years.

He earned a Bachelor's Degree in Business Management from Georgia State University before deciding to enter into the field of education. He went on to attend Valley City State University in Valley City, North Dakota to receive a Master's of Education with a concentration in Engineering and Technology Education.

Educational Philosophy

Every student has the ability to be creative and express their desire to design and build. However, it is up to us to bring curriculum, content, activities, etc. to the table to bring their creativeness out of them. Some of the best students are the ones who are willing to take what you give them and go another mile past what you expected. Never doubt a student cannot do something when you never know what tools are in their tool bag.

Focus of the Month

February 2012

February is CTAE Month in the state of Georgia. Do something at your school to show others how important CTAE, and more importantly Technology Education, is to the students who you impact. Create brochures, host an exhibit, or even have a CTAE field day.

Also, get ready for TSA State Conference, march 8-10!

Every month, GETEA will provide information on an area of content teachers should consider focusing on in the classroom.
